It is apathy and indifference by good people that has enabled and empowered this sort of bad conduct.

how can that be when I am only responsible for me and I do not support greed unless I am obliged by way of taxes..I don't own a tv and I do not go to movies but I would ask you how do you propose that I stop people from becoming sheep and following the rich people around buying all the crap they can.......but how about the the internet and the way it has opened the pathway for greedy people to sit behind their screens figuring our ways to part people's money from them

it is not the same, but you are right that tv is filled with garbage and internet can be just as bad except I have an ad blocker which I do not use on this site. I would like to know how I can stop people from being greedy though...

One can only be fleeced by the greedy if they allow themselves to be fleeced by the greedy. Keep your wallet closed and greed can't get in. Greedy people are motivated to work harder to separate those and their money than the ones with money. It's just that simple.

Playing the victim card only makes me wonder if the real culprit isn't just greedy people, but moreso the people with money that don't educate themselves about preparation and learning how to protect themselves against being fleeced.

A fool and his money...how the hell did they get together in the first place?

Well, I suppose that folks like you, who claim they only responsible for themselves, are how we got to where we are today. We have allowed ourselves to be taken over. Any of us, as individuals, obviously can't change anything, but together, we can at least point out that bad behavior to others and shame such people and that encourages others to shame such practices. Pretending they don't exist, because "I am only responsible for me" is how we got here and a cop out. Such sheepish behavior is promoted by the people who control our rapidly collapsing societies. They control all the information we receive and they certainly don't want us to speak up.
