Man , never say u get whooped by a stang ! Lol. You didn't get that 8.5 off Craigslist did you ?
Lol! Hey when I'm runnin a NA 355sbc pushin 420hp...and running against a sprayed and boosted small block i didn't stand a chance...test n tune so it didn't hurt my feelings much. At that time i had stock suspension, garbage tires, etc jus havin a lil fun.

No, i got the 8.5 from the guy that did my rearend. I was young and dumb and bought parts for a 8.5, but the cutlass had a 7.5. He literally made one phone call and had a 8.5 there hours later that was pulled from a yard. That guy was good (rip).

Called a guy few years back that one in Louisville
Only problem I see on these 8.5 GN , 442 ,

That is a good guy for sure ! (Rip) sorry to hear. I got a 3.73 rear in the BU and personally its way to much for the 3.11 1 st gear . With old motor could literally skip 1st gear . Thinking with 3.73 That's a 11.6 overall effective ratio ! 1st will b like a granny , but 2nd on that is a 2.20 . 2.20

When I say old motor , 350 bone stock with fouling plugs . So yeah , as soon as I got it home , I pulled it.

Man! You guys have had quite a banter going! Getting back to the subject, after all that work, you should just clear that bell. My Saginaw bell had the remnants of two Corporate Blue paint jobs on it so I may go that way. I have a bell for an 82 Camaro for my T5 swap and the seller painted it with some badass paint but it is red unfortunately.

I'd recommend clear engine enamel or Duplicolor MetalCast (I like the "smoke" version - painted the Holley intake in my TBSS with it).

Texas , hell yeah it really isn't hard to do . I soaked it in cleaner for cpl days. Then went up to the local car wash , because I didn't want the grease on my driveway. HA. Took cleaner and steel brush with me. Got it home and started final cleaning with high speed drill and brass wheel .

Motor Mike , I got some VHT gloss clear . Cool ?
Texas , it was nasty Bro , had to scrape alot of built up grease out of it. But was worth the 10.00 in quarters. Instead of $200.00 plus to replace. Was my day off , peaceful though.
