Paint or wheels?

Well, she definetly needs a paint job that for sure. It's not the worst looking paint in the world by any means, especially since it's still the original, but it has lost it's shine.

While we are on that subject of paint. How much did you guys shell out for your paint jobs and where would you recommend getting one done at? Would Macco be an option? I have heard some good things about them and then I have heard some horror stories.

Get it running great first, it won't be making the cruises/shows if it won't run or stop. then it's up to you, if it has rust I'd fix the body and paint, then get the interior how you want it, you will be driving it after all. Wheels & tires would be last on my list.
Just how I would go about it, it's your car and your priorities probably won't be the same as mine.

It's not a band-aid if you're gonna get them anyway. A lot of times people lose interest in cars before completing them, so if this were to happen, you can still keep the rims. At the same time, wheels will give the most visual stimulation to a plain car, which can help with not loosing interest in the car in the first place.

I concur.

My GP is definetly no race car but it runs great. No troubles there. *knocks on wood*. 😀

As far as body work. It doesn't need much at all. No rust at all. The body is in great shape. Just needs sprayed for a fresh new shine and the to bring the color back to life.

I may get the paint done here first then in a couple months go wheels. I was leaning heavily towards wheels first but she does eventually need to be painted. And without a nice paint job a car with wheels look like a beater IMO. A oldie car with sweet paint really turns heads.

My choices for my project keep getting tougher and tougher.

How much did you guys throw in your paint jobs?

i would go for paint also... think about it, you or people dont see your wheels when your driving, but you always see the paint job

Any opinions on Macco?

How can I find a good shop to get my car painted?

i've heard good reviews about macco and some bad, there is a macco down the street from me and they suck paint peels in like 6 months :blam:.... i go to local 1 owner body shops and check out some of the cars they done and just get differnt price quotes,

After you get the paint done you might decide a different wheel/tire combo goes better with the new paint than the ones you first had in mind, better then repainting the car to go with the wheels!.
Roger.

if you or a friend has a garage, even car port, and tools paint it yourself. Its monkey work, just takes careful prep and time.
