What this person is referring to/about is the FE3-X concept cars Oldsmobile made in 1985. They made Calais, Firenza, and Cutlass's. Later on they were called OSV models.

Olds made 2 Black Cutlass FE3-X concept cars. Both had 307 V8, They could corner 1g. Recaro Seats, 4 wheel disc brakes, 16" Rims, special ground effects.

Where did you read this?
I didn't read it. I know from being around the Buicks for a long time. You could get a 4.1 in a Regal from 82-84. But you could get a 200 4r behind it in 83 and 84. The code for the 4.1 200 4r was BY. It is probably one of the rarer combos on the 83 and 84 Regals. I'd bet there were more turbo cars made those years than cars with the 4.1

Sounds like what your neighbor had was a 1985 Cutlass with a Hurst Aero kit on it, 122 kits were sold, it a kit was installed on an 81-87 it was a Hurst Aero Commemorative, if installed on an '88 it was a 20th Anniversary H/O and came with a membership to the H/OCA and a serial tag once a vin was mailed in to Hurst. Doc Watson only made 3 or 4 prototypes... I say 3 because it's believed car #001 and #002 are the same car just at one point sold to Joe Hrudka and then sold back to Doc according to #003 owner Larry Simpson whom I spoke to at last years H/OCA meet. I currenly own car #001 which was Doc Watson's personal daily driver for almost 30 years. After Doc passed in 2016 it went to auction to pay his debts. Car does have a prototype Hurst push button shifter that they put in at Mr. Gasket (owner of Hurst at the time) which is no longer functional and it's had several engines including a 640ci DRCE. Has C&C T-tops, Flo-Fit seats, 18" Hurst Rims. It's a fun car to drive, gets tons of attention, more than any of my other cars and I've never had any negative feedback with exception to a few blowhards online 😆 but hey, it's not for everyone and it was the '80's... It's the last of the cars Hurst sanctioned and converted so it's rare and has history. And yes it is a Hurst Olds...

This is the promo shot taken in 1987 at Hrudka's house in Tempe, AZ, it's car #002 (which has never been seen since this shot) and is believed to be also car #001:

It was called the Hurst/Olds Aero Commemorative when installed on a 1988 cutlass classic.

People forget drugs were alive and well in the 80s...

The ground effects suck. But, the 10 hole Cragar/Weld wheels with the rivets were just about as good as it ever got. Just my 'not so humble' opinion.

Nice car. Sucks that the electronic shifter died. What motor is in it now?

I owned a couple of those cars. All were limited regal coupes. All came with g80, and all had 3.08 ratios.

The most oddball was an 84 limited, dark briar brown metallic, hardtop, brown 40/40 leather bucket with non-functional 1/2 console, manual window, power lock, rear defog, aforementoned 4.1/200-4r 3.08 posi, twilight sentinel, non-tilt/non-cruise, had a/c, am/fm only radio, snakeblinder trim with wire hubcaps.

Bought it for $300, flipped it for $2000 back around 2000/2001.

I personally think Olds missed the boat by not offering an H/O alongside the 442 in the 80s. Even if they had the same drivetrains in them, with different paint and body schemes, I think it would have been the "shiit" to do that. They could have taken say, a white or black 442 for 1985, placed the codes on the build sheets to leave the decals and 442 emblems off, paint it black or white with silver below, then truck it over like in the old days to C&C or whatever Teir 1 upfitter would be, and have them finish it off with the spoiler, aero kit, shifter, and whatever they would do to it to make it a Hurst/Olds...
Was a nice thought anyway. Kind of a problem since they didn't build G-body Oldses in Lansing after 1984...but still. I can dream.
