Does anyone know if a 10 bolt 7.5 with 28 spline axels is a fit for a g-body Cutlass. Got a guy who wants $180 for it and it seems like a steal. Let me know. Thanks

it's not a 7.5 diff....if it's 28 spline and not an 8.5 then it's a 7 5/8 out of an F body which will fit in a 7.5 housing but you'll need to find some axles out of a Grand National......

What is it out of? Is it a complete assembly or just a diff? Is it the right carrier series?

"eaton 3 series posi rear end 3rd member with 373 ring and pinion gears... just to make this clear this is a 7.5 with 28 spline axels"

Those where the sellers exact words. Not to sure, but sounds like it's just the guts.

if it's a 7.5 - 28 spline then it's from an 89 and up so it may be a govenor lock carrier which is junk..

When I got my 7.5 rebuilt I had a similar problem. IDK what my differential came out of. The guy said something about a Regal. But the splines were different from what came in my rear (out of a 80 GP). But he was able to change out a part (for cheap) in the differential itself, that way I could keep my stock axles (since been replaced).

IDK if this helps much. But he replaced that part for free... alot cheaper than new axles lol.

iN SOMEONE'S OPINION WOULD A 3:73 RATIO RING/PINION GEAR from a Dana 30 front short standard be SoMETHING i COULD WORK WITH. Any help is appreciated. To make this easy, how could I know what works and what won't. Will any GMC gear and pinion work. I know the entire rear end has to be a exact cross reference. Somebody on craigslist is offering me the 3:73 for $65. I know I could talk to a rear end shop if I need to but if someone would like to shed some light feel free.

If your car has a 7.5 you need 7.5 parts.
