Ok guys, I need some opinions here real quick.

I finished up the driver’s side piece by getting the final finish to 220 grit and installed it on the car to fine tune the scratch pattern so it looked right:

My dilemma now is that if you look closely I left the recess in the trim as only the nickle plating sanded, thinking it wouldn’t be that noticeable being a different color, but now that I see it on the car I’m not so sure:

(I know it’s a bit hard to see, but it’s the best I could do with the glare)

The problem is that the nickle layer is extremely hard and very difficult to sand/grind off, and in the recess there it would be nearly impossible to do nicely without ruining the definition of the edges.

What do y’all think I should do, attempt to strip this area right down to nothing too, or leave it and clear it “as is”?
I’m to the point where I need to make the decision very VERY soon.

Thanks, I need some input on this!

D.

Keep in mind that the aluminum trim & chrome didn't really match up when new. See how it looks outside in natural light.

Good point, but that’s not really what I’m getting at. I’m talking about the recess in between the two style lines on just the quarter glass trim piece. It’s only lightly sanded in that area and a different color than the sanded pot metal either side of it.

The glare from that yellow light and the crome door trim through me off. I can't see it right. The rail trim and the quarter window trim look the same to me with a yellow glare. I would take it out in the sun and then decide.

Thanks Zach. I knew it would be a bit tough to see the color difference in the pics, but I was hoping it’d show up better than it did.

Here’s another pic, I turned some lights off and changed the camera angle to try and pick up on the difference a little better:

It’s currently cloudy and miserable outside or I’d take pics in the sun for y’all to see. The darker shade in the middle isn’t a shadow or anything, that’s the actual color. It’s more pronounced when you see it in person.

I’m honestly not sure at this point. Rather undecided actually. That’s why I thought I’d get everyone’s opinions and see what y’all think.
