Nope, just trying to make up for lost time!
Yep, I was all too happy to finally be gone with it. If you remember way back, it was the damage on the roof from the vinyl top that kickstarted this whole thing...
No worries Eric, whenever you’ve got the time and chance to. I know you’ve got much bigger things to worry about right now, go and be with your daughter. She needs you.

Got a couple of little things done tonight, starting with the header panel. It would seem I got a couple of ugly primer “shadows” on the underside from when I set it up on the old paint cans for the initial priming:
Obviously my OCD wouldn’t stand for that, so after a quick scuffing down with red ScotchBrite, I fogged on some VHT satin black to fix it. Looks a little better than stock, but then that seems to be a recurring trend with this thing.
It’s a little glossy still in this pic, but it’ll dry to a nice satin sheen.
While I was waiting for that to dry, I unmasked the steering wheel. I fully expected it to, but unfortunately the tape removed some of the color from the grip as it came off:
Yeesh. Not the end of the world though, as I plan on taking it in for an appraisal and possibly estimate of what it’s gonna take to have the grip refinished and redyed. Maybe even today.
In the meantime, I swapped out the cracked horn button that came with it for mine (which is mint), and reassembled it. Looks not too bad, but will easily look 200% better once the grip is restored.
I was mainly concerned with having the spokes fixed up and looking good for now, and I think I’ve achieved that.
To round off the evening, I threw the header on loosely just for sh*ts n giggles. I wanted to get an idea of how the front end was gonna look with the brushed headlight bezels, so I laid them in place too.
All I can say is wow! What a completely different look it’ll be. Now I’m looking forward to getting the rest of it installed, but first I have to complete the brushed effect on the grilles.

Wow. So many would have given up at the sight of that. That's not cancer - that's gangrene!
Yep, it was probably as bad as I’ve ever seen. I managed to fix it though, amazingly.
It was so bad and so far gone, you could actually see the roof supports through on the inside once the top was removed. To this day I have no idea how the headliner never got wet, and how the inside never got any water damage.

It's a damned good thing you painted under the header panel! The first thing I do is flop down on the ground, and look up between the bumper and core support!

Yep, you know you are in trouble when the underside of Donovan's Header panel looks better than the topside of your header panel 
Should have just painted eyes on those paint can marks so when fleming442 looked up your skirt, which he's prone to do, he'd have a set of eyes looking back at him making him hopefully shat his pants. So we can all laugh at him.
