BUILD THREAD Project Olds Cool (Recognition!!)

It’s all perspective, what comes easy to you is art to most.

Whoa whoa whoa! Let’s not get carried away, nobody said anything about this being easy!
😅
On the contrary, it’s been anything but. I’ve clocked in hundreds of hours on a regular basis on almost all my evenings and weekends for going on 3 years now. It’s been a long journey and a real struggle at times, just ask Scott as I usually vent to him when things aren’t going right. I knew what you meant Mike, and I sincerely appreciate it, but it definitely hasn’t been easy.

Understood.... but you make it look easy. Of course we don't see the sweating and hear the cursing.

No joke, the way you see it is the way it’s staying. It doesn’t convey real well in the pictures, but it actually looks fine in person. I’ve said it before, but this one ain’t a show car. IMO, it’s a reasonable quality partial restoration, and a slightly above average repaint with a nod to original GM traits and styling cues. That’s it.

My apologies, Donovan, I'm sure it's been anything but easy, with your time, effort and money spent. I meant it as a correction on how you see how this car is going to turn out and the talents you have to do the work needed. "This ain't no show car", "It's a reasonable quality partial restoration", "a slightly above average repaint". I admire your modesty, but I'd take your "reasonable quality" any day of the week and twice on Sunday for my car. And...... you make it look easy!

This is just first blush, the door still needs a little tweaking and the fender isn’t aligned or bolted down yet, but it’s coming together great!
The door fits remarkably well considering it’s a completely different one than the car originally came with:

More tweaking and adjustments will be made tomorrow night, along with the addition of the door glass to make sure all the weight is in the door. Milestones like these are great motivational moments, it feels great to see panels going back on finally and starting to look like a car again!

What do y’all think so far?

Damn that's a handsome car. The best thing that ever happened to it was you buying it, Donovan. Above average refininish, yeah, yeah, yeah.
