Scoop Mock Ups For The Monte

Any way to use a panel filter in the pan inlet?
The air pan is removed and won't work with the new engine anyways since the carb will sit even higher. I was already 1/2" higher than when I first made the air pan since I added the nitrous plate after.

Could you use the 6" hood if you put it on front hinges?
Maybe do a shaker hood like the old T/A's. They looked cool but the little band clamp was a pain to take off and put on.
That motor its just a beast! Good luck with it, however you go.

The seller does ship these. But they are absolute garbage. My dad bought one of their 4"cowl hoods for a 80 malibu. Fit was worse i have seen. Pinned the wiper arms to the cowl. One side was 2 times thicker then the other. My dad ended uo cutting the hood up and grafting the scoop onto the original hood. The seller no longer shows up to the local swap anymore either. Ebay reveiws also speek volumes.

I always questioned the quality of bolt on hoods that sell for less than others lift off versions

I don't want just a hole in a 4" cowl with an air cleaner sticking out.

But, you are okay with putting a tiny Mustang hood scoop on a 4" cowl induction hood? You created race car problems and are using rice car solutions. I don't get it? It is your car and you do what you feel is best. But, if I was in this position it would be time to fix the problem and not bandaid it.

What about modifying the coop you have now? Eather cut the cowel scoop and make it taller or cut the center out and drop the front down for an exposed air cleaner look something custom with attention to detail like the rest of the car shore it's more work but dam look at the rest of the car

If I was going to cut the scoop and raise it then my best bet would be replacing the entire scoop with a 6" cowl like motorheadmike suggested and since I need the height dropping the front to make a ram air wouldn't help me.

Another issue is this is Harwoods "show series" hood so it has a fully finished inner structure instead of just reinforcements and a single top layer which means the inner layer that adds strength would have to be removed to graft on a whole new cowl scoop.

I'm glad someone else chimed in on this. I have a hood by the same seller, really not worth your money. I can tell you the horror stories, but I'll spare those for another time lol.
