The 6" cowl hood for my car is designed as a pin on hood with no mounting points for the latch or hinges, I looked at those before I bought my 4" bolt on.

I didn't read the hood was a pin on, must be that the 6" cowl would hit the windshield with the hood up on hinges

Yeah the 6" cowls goes right up to the windshield, they look cool but not practical for me to have a pin on hood.

I looked at those also but I don't think they would be quite tall enough plus they don't ship and I have no way to pick it up.

If one place makes them so does another.

I think when its done in black it'll look custom and not like an afterthought. If that's all it takes top get the clearance you need and the filtration you want, then I say: go for it. It'll hold you over till you find something better or it grows on you.
Sick looking engine bay,BTW. Me likey.

I agree that it not being black yet makes it harder to visualize for many people but I do think if I section the scoop and widen it to the edge of the cowl or closer to it then it will be more to my liking.
Appreciate the compliment also..

Nope don't do it - it is going to look like another Pep Boys scooped pick-up. Just cut a hole and leave it be. People will accept that you have too much engine for your hood - they won't accept a hood wart covering your engine.

At worst a plexiglass box is a workable solution.

I don't want just a hole in a 4" cowl with an air cleaner sticking out.
