Thanks guys, i do appreciate the help, allot. And yeah the last owner did kind've leave me with a mess. And yes jesse it's running with a carb, a Quadrajet something or another, I honestly thought this was the stock setup so that might be where half of the confusion is coming from. And DRIVEN i already picked up a new distributor and here's a link to it.

And as for the computer system being in tact, not even close. I'm trying to eliminate what's left of the computer system for a few reasons, A. i Don't want any computer controlled systems on this engine, B. This system is so heavily damaged that there is no point in trying to save it.

As for the camshaft problem, I just want to fix the other problems first, then tackle that problem because it's a big one to handle.

The way i've got it planned out, when i go to replace the cam i'm going to be replacing the intake manifold and water pump at the same time, this will also eliminate any remaining computer components and hopefully make this engine run allot smoother. If i can work it out, i want to replace the heads at the same time i replace the rest of the valve train, because otherwise i'd just be going back and doing allot of the work all over again.

I've never built an engine like this before so i'm trying to plan out the best combination of parts for a good solid smooth running engine that's got some power to it.

I haven't got any work done in the last 2 days because it started raining :? but i should have some updates here soon.

I hate to tell you but you might want to read up on that ProComp distributor before you install it..basically ProComp aka Chinese junk

for some reason I thought it was proform they're all the same junk anyway. I wouldn't want to race these cheap distributors, but as long as he checks over the electrical they should get him from point A to B no problem

even MSD is being made in China now...I have a distributor from ZZ4 and when I needed a coil I got one from Moroso-built in USA

Is mallory still made in the US?

I believe it still is....I go out of my way and don`t mind paying a few extra $$ to buy something made on this side of the world.

Ya, I'd say 90% of the parts I buy are made here but sometimes it's hard to tell.

sometimes it is but with the new laws they have to put where it is made and they can`t hide like they use to....but here in Canada if the container weighs more than the content it can be marked made in Canada...so that means we could be eating lead corn flakes from China and not even know it...

Just like the proform dist. I bought for 35$, I knew it was chinesium but wasn't even sure of the brand or origin until I did some searching, it doesn't even say on the box.

Sounds like you're on the right track. Is the carb you have a feedback Quadrajet? It will have an electrical connector on the front top, usually blue. If you have a regular Q-jet you should be OK even if the calibration isn't ideal. When selecting your package I think you'll be pleased with a torque based combination as opposed to a big cam and race heads with a big single plane on top. Street cars aren't much fun when they idle at 1300rpm and can't pull their own weight below 4500 (ask me how I know). You would probably be surprised how fun a relatively stock 350 with a mild cam/intake/carb and maybe some small tube headers.
