Wire a button up as the dome light switch who wants to reach back and find the ugly little black thing when they are trying to drive. I never used my dome light when I was trying to drive bc too dangerous I always had to wait til I was pulled over lol

Or I could use the interior light switch that is on the dash board

Re: Cutlass on a budget build thread

1 update coming up! So i finished the last layer of glass and got both pods in bondo. Let the pictures begin!

Last layer of glass, drying in the Carolina sun

Sanded out the rough spots, trimmed the pod so the grill sits flush. Im gonna trim it even more so it barley sticks up at all.

Test fit. Looks good, but I will have to end up trimming the sail panel a tiny, tiny bit. Oh well, If i do it right, shouldn't look too bad.

First coat of bondo, was chilly that night, so made a little drying oven.

I got one sanded and primed last night, and am working on the other. I think they are turning out decent so far.

Re: Cutlass on a budget build thread

Well, I finished the 6x9 pods at the end of March. They turned out like absolute crap. Not even really worth taking a picture of. They felt strong, but they bubbled, wrinkled and cracked. I'm leaving them in for the time being, but now I'm going to make pods to hold a 6.5" and a tweeter. I've already cut out the speaker frame, and the back panel. I just have to make legs to space it out, and start to wrap it in real fleece this time, not an old cotton tee shirt. First though, I really needed to address the leaky sun roof.

Hmmm....what could this be???

Ordered the pan and glass seal kit from Gbodyparts. Much better quality than I expected. Now just need to find time to put them in.

My voltage meter is still in shipping, was supposed to be here yesterday... Also should be ordering Jegs two chambered mufflers (same as Flowmaster Super 40's) some new exhaust hangers, and chrome tips. Another one of my hangers broke so I decided its time to cut the exhaust off at the rear wheels and give it a sound.

Re: Cutlass on a budget build thread

Got some more good news guys! It was like Christmas today, so I'll get straight to the photos. 8)

My Birthday was last Sunday, so with birthday money and a recent pay day I took some stuff off the "to buy" list. First up, the UPS man showed up with a nice box from Summit. Crazy fast shipping, ordered the goods Monday night and the box showed up about an hour ago! :D

The tool of choice, trusty steak knife.

New poly motor mounts from Energy Suspension. Those Napa rubber mounts just aren't gonna cut it.

Also from Energy Suspension, complete poly control arm bushing kit.

Stage 8 locking header bolts, after I found a header bolt laying in the driveway..

Advance curve kit, gonna try this for a little snappier throttle response

New KYB rear shocks, haven't heard anything bad about these online, and I really really needed new rear shocks

I thought that was it...then Jeg's came with a birthday present from my parents

New 2 chambered mufflers (flow master super 40's)

There is supposed to be 2 more boxes from Jeg's coming that will complete my exhaust. I'm gonna cut the exhaust where it starts to dump behind the rear tires and put some chrome tips on. All these goodies, not to mention I still have the sunroof seal I have to put in. It's gonna be a busy summer guys!

Re: Cutlass on a budget build thread

Also forgot to add, my voltage meter from Ebay came in a few weeks ago and I finally got it in. First I cut a hole out where the gear indicator used to be. Then cut out a piece of plastic and put 3 layers of %30 window tint that was in the garage. Here is the final result.

Now you see it

Now you don't

How did you attatch the fleece to the back of the fiberglass on the door pods?
