I know I had to clock my alternator when I put the Holley Mid-Rise on my TBSS. You are going to have to get creative. The good news is that you can probably make spacers/offset plates pretty easily to gain the space you need as the entire FEAD off a Turbo Buick is pretty modular by design.
Kinda scary we think a little a like. One idea is to make a 3/8 plate and move the j braket out like a inch. Then I would need to make a spacer for the crank and water pump pullies. A nother idea is the same type of plate and have the j braket mount milled down the thickness of the plate. Looks like I will have to buy an a/c compressor in order to see how much room I have between the steering box.

You can borrow mine if you want. I think it came from Cotton's Performance. I know they sell one. If the heads are off use a normal valve spring compressor tool. It will work better. You could make one pretty easy if you have extra rocker arms.
I'm good, I assembled my heads already. Thanks for the offer though.

Well I did some work today. I put the intake, headers, valve covers, and new spark plugs back on for the last time I hope. I used a valley pan gasket in stead of the standard gaskets. My thoughts were it will help keep hot oil from splashing up on the intake and the intake will run cooler.

I am using copper exaust gaskets for all the hot side stuff and o-ring style valve covers gaskets. The reason I am doing that is they are reusable and supposedly seal better. That way I can take stuff back apart if need be. I am using stainless bolts for the parts I am putting on also. My think is they look better, will not rust, and I don't need to paint them. I am also using high temp antiseize also. I put a new 160 degree thermostat in also today. I wanted to get the turbo and down pipe on, but I bought the wrong size bolts so that will have to wait.

I decided not to wrap the headers or down pipe. I read if you wrap stock Grand National headers it will trap heat and likely crack the headers. It can also be a fire hazard if your engine leaks oil. More than one person burned up there car from this. My down pipe is ceramic coated so it doesn't need to be wrapped. The next big project is getting the accessories and brackets to fit my set up. I am also looking for a valve cover breather or fill tube if someone has one. A normal twist in valve cover breather will not work. I tried that. The hole is smaller. That is it for now.

Looking good Zach!
Looking forward to the updates.

I got the turbo and down pipe mounted for good tonight.

I am running a TE60 turbo with a Garett housing. A 3 inch TH down pipe that is ceramic coated. The turbo is a little bigger than what I wanted, and I know there are better options for my goals, but I got a really good deal on it. I bought it used, but it is almost new. Has one night at the strip on it. The only downside with this turbo is it may spool a little slower than a smaller turbo and it likes more stall, but I will give it a shot. When I went out to the shed I found this waiting for me. Kind of funny.

That is all I have for now.

I did some work on it today. I thought about how I am going to mount my acessory all week. I came up with only two real options. Either hack up my 87 bracket and belt tentioner or make my own mounting plate. I decided to hack my bracket and belt tentioner. If that did not work I could still make my own mount plate and buy a new belt tentioner . I used a combination of cutt off wheel and an angle grinder with a sanding disc. I fist hacked the mounting bracket to fit.

Then I went to town on the belt tentioner.

I did eliminate one of the mounting holes and a lot of the webbing. I left just enough for the resting pad of the missing hole. I figure if it has too much movement with out the missing bolt I can have someone weld the tentioner to the mounting plate if need be. Just enough room to adjust the distributor.

I put the new crank, waterpump, and altinator pullies on. I mocked up the power steering pump and inercooler. I need an a/c compressor and found I need to repair the power steering mount threaded holes. Some one stripped them out. Here is were I quit for the day.
