Now that I read through all this and got amused,LOL , This I would say...I love the Grand National cars........however I think, scratch that I know leaving them stock with the turbo v-6 nets big dollars..take out that powerplant and put whatever you want in it and it is what it is at that point...I personally think our cars look like a$$ with side pipes, not to offend other members, but this is my opinion only.....I think if you can, get someone who knows how to build a turbo 4-6, someone like Kenny Duttweiler, and keep that baby as it was meant to be.....only sayin 8) BTW, YOu got any pics of that sweet vette or black phantom????

I think it is time to lock the thread. This is just going to go down the wrong road and get a lot of flamming!!
what are you kidding? yeah there was some flaming, but i think everyone has it out of their system, (granted somebody now HAS to be an *ss since i said that) now it's a discussion.
while i agree that putting anything other than a turbo motor in a GN makes it just a regal, it's his car and there's really nothing special about a GN. a GNX on the other hand...
oh an to the guy who says his car will kill the stingray--anybody can make a fast car, but some cars have VALUE based or rarity (assuming the 'vette is really worth that). would you build a 70 cuda 'vert for autocross or drag racing? or would you keep the 1.x million dollar car stock? even though there are modded VW's that could beat it?

years ago I had a 70 MGB that the stock exhaust was shot so we welded up some exhaust tubes to the tubes from the manifold out to side pipes..

That Vette guy is a world class Douche. Who gives a sh*t if you have a $110,000 Vette someone else built for you. You probably can't turn a wrench in the right direction. People can't build Buick, Olds, Pontiac and Cadillac motors like the sbc. They are totally different designs. Us non chebby lovers like to not see the same old sh*t under every hood.

who's the douche? do you KNOW that he didn't build the car? you're assuming. and how many people know how to build a 500hp turbo six in their own garage? when you push an engine to that point it's easy to screw up, all we can fault him for, with the present info, is using builders who don't know exactly what to do.

I am done "faulting or flaming" but fwiw you don't have to build the 86/7 Buick Turbo motor to reliably withstand 500HP. At least with a fresh motor as the factory already did that. Just turn up the fuel & boost add race fuel or substitute and moniture/tune it with scantool. You kind of run into a wall with a lot of the factory parts at about that point though; turbo, intercooler, injectors, heads, even the crank starts to move around in the 11.50 and below range.
