temp gauge

thats crazy, the one on the left which i replaced, i had the cut out the old harness because the aftermarket sensor bought its own and the old wouldnt fit.
 
as far as I know the sensor has one contact at the top of the sensor and it's a green wire...

what do you have the two wires attached to ?

or reverse the polarity. Either way the way it's wired sounds weird. One sensor should be for the guage and the other for the light, not both on the one wire. So did you say everything was working fine before the sensor went dead ?

after a little internet search I have dug up a little more information from another fellow with issues. Take a read and see if this helps. It's been a long-long time since I worked on a 307

and thats the one thats suppose to make the temp gauge move?
i dont understan why one of the wires on the plug on the left made it move, and the other wire on the same plu gmade the light come on when grounded, im also confused, lol :?

no it really never worked correctlly, it would sometime but then it went dead,
my thing is that this is all original wiring and harness that were on the car, i only cut the one on the left to adapt the new one.

that is the way the sensor works. Simply put the sensor when reading the temp grounds itself and the stronger the ground the more the gauge moves. The lite would stay off till the strength of the ground would turn it on, when your overheating.
