Won't matter soon.

General Millennial announced today no more gas powered cars to be sold by 2035... and I'm sure their crap offerings will be close to that for years leading up to the mark as well.

Then again, they haven't built much worth buying in almost 20 yrs already so....

How about trucks?

Same with trucks. Basically all light duty vehicles, Silverado down to corvette and the upcoming camaro cuv abomination you know if on the way with everything else in between.

Your medium duty trucks and above before 2040. Same press releases

Edit: link to the nightmare to read for yourself.

It disturbs me that they assume electric is the only way to make vehicles carbon neutral. Because for general use it hardly seems the most practical means available, right now and for the foreseeable future. If they were in the aircraft business they might look at it a little differently. But then, this is Wall Street thinking.

Don't worry, I m sure the power grid can handle it... right?

They've been building one, ONE, Nuke plant in GA. Not only is it currently around double original cost, it's decades late and not nearly ready to come online.

And the lines/transmission towers, they all have so much excess capacity waiting to carry more juice... no?

All electrical concerns will be resolved when the development of the gigawatt solar collection unit that fits on top of you ball cap. As long as it’s not a cloudy day.

Time and technology waits for no one! and... don't forget that LS conversions have taken over the place of the SBC just like the SBC took over from the Flathead. Are those still around, yup!

This ^^article doesn't say that GM is doing away with gasoline vehicles and only making electric cars. It says that GM is going to incorporate a complete electric fleet into their, GM's, corporate vehicle fleet.

It disturbs me that the term 'carbon neutral' has been mis-used to imply that all gasoline/diesel powered anything will be elimintated - because that's not what 'carbon neutral' means.

You're wrong. YES IT DOES.

Read some other articles if you don't like that one.

Car and driver:

Forbes:

Motor Trend:

NY Times:

"General Motors is the latest automaker to pledge that it will phase out combustion engines worldwide, replacing the fleet with electric-powered vehicles."

Here's a direct quote from Barra:

"General Motors plans to be carbon neutral by 2040 – which means removing emissions from all our products, including every vehicle we produce, and all of our global operations in the next twenty years."

She wrote that on her linked-in. So, if you know a way to have a zero emissions gasoline powered vehicle, do tell.

There's hundreds of articles with DIRECT QUOTES from GM that say EXACTLY that gm is phasing out the internal combustion engine.

What else does that mean to you?
