What I do on boats is to run right off the battery to one of these waterproof breakers. Then on to a breaker panel for all the electrical needs. But on our cars I think just one breaker right off the battery could feed the entire car just like the stock fusible link. I use Blue Seas and they have been very dependable.

My car has no fusible links, can I use a breaker instead? Maybe a 40A since my power feed wires are 10ga.

Yah, mon. Y'all are on the right track. Those fusible linked 10 gauges at the starter and alternator can absolutely be consolidated somewhere other than the starter. I've been looking for a multiple, MAXI fuse distribution block for a while, and haven't seen one. You could probably slide with 30a ATCs, but I'd feel more comfortable with 40-50a since they feed the ignition switch.
You can also run an upsized charge lead directly from the alternator to the battry.

The fuse block is from a late '80's/early '90's H-body Olds 88, cable is from a '96-'98 C/K, the bag of terminals was scored from a Chevy stealership.

Dig it. Package them up and sell'em. I was thinking about half that size, though....

As soon as I figure out what amp fuse will replace each fusible link I'll be working it in. Even the fan for the heat-A/C will be on it too.

On my coupe and wagon I extended the 2 feed wires and the start wire, mounted a remote solenoid on the inside of the fender, and haven't had any issues since. I also like that the starter cable is only hot when cranking, not all the time under the car

I stripped the interior out to keep it from being ruined by the rain, since there is no windows in the car.

Found some rust and holes in the floors unfortunately
