I stripped the interior out to keep it from being ruined by the rain, since there is no windows in the car. View attachment 172718

Found some rust and holes in the floors unfortunately

Given what the rest looks like I'd de-grease, wire brush the loose rust, use a converter or sealer on it of the por15 ilk, put some of their hole patch compatable putty in the minor holes, coat it, reinstall new drain plugs, and use it as is. Save the bigger money and time on that trashed mechanical system and get it driving/enjoyed.

More pics I see the more it looks like a flood car.

Got an engine! $300 for a Vortec 350

And it came with the harness and all the accessories (not all of which pictured)

But! I think this malibu is bad luck!
Took a head off and it turns out it threw a rod!

The connecting rod was laying in the pan, along with some major chunks

The bore with the decimated piston definitely needs to be bored, which is sad because the rest of them are hardly worn.

I think it originated from a spun bearing, since all the ones I removed had spun

Thankfully the heads were still in good condition, which makes the $300 still worth it!
What now? Take it to a machine shop? Or just buy a roller cam short block?
I'd like to not have to buy a new engine, but I will if its cheaper.

What do you think happened? My guess is loss of oil pressure, but the top end looked fine, so I dunno.

I would get them magnafluxed before thinking about using them a piston hitting the head can cause hairline cracks that you won't see.

What is it with you people and nitrous? Lol!
You can install a canister with two lines, one to the engine, the other to the ventilation system.

It's a win - win

Got a fuse box! It came with the 350 I bought, it's from a 99' tahoe. Even got spots for some MAXI fuses.
Best part is, it'll look factory.. cause it is!
