Yep that is a stud,I found it works real good for the alternator bracket,better than a bolt.
So do you install the stud after installing the intake?

Why pull the engine before pulling the intake first? Not a big fan of BB chevys. Lots of power and torque but seem like constant issues from what ive seen. Just my worthless opinion.

Actually that is exactly what I just did.
Pulled the intake and found that the gaskets were shot.
