The factory used steel lines for the trans cooler lines. In the aftermarket replacement. Is it OK to use rubber PushLok hose or go with the steel braided hose?

I wouldn't use rubber push lock without a reinforced hose and fittings rated for trans pressures that at least crimp or use good quality clamps. I have been running braided lines for years with no problems.

Before I started doing everything in braided hoses and fittings I did my fuel line and oil lines in push loc hose that I believe was made by Aeroquipe back then and while the assembly was easy they seemed to always seep a little on the hose ends which I then had to install hose clamps to stop which kind of defeated the purpose.
And those lines are low pressure compared to trans lines.
I started doing braided lines after that and that's all I do know and I never have any issues.

How much psi is coming out of the 2004R cooler line ports?

The cooler port pressure has to be much less than line pressure. I am aware line pressure is around 250 psi but cooler port is probably under 100 psi??

In most cases, if you have to ask, move on up. Your doubts are probably valid. Either way, overkill is good, unless you can’t afford it. Then you should stay at the lower level and live with the results. No big deal since it was all that you could afford. I hope this helps. 🤪

I have used Parker low pressure hydraulic oil return line as 1 ft jumpers for flex and then brake line in between. It's rated in that 500 psi range and cheaper than an line. 3ft chunk of 3/8 ni-cu brake line line and some rubber hose with crimped fittings on each side to connect to the cooler and trans.

I just don't like any rubber product, an or otherwise running near exhaust and on my turbo Buick the exhaust is close to the lines.

From a pressure rating the pushlok is fine but trans cooler lines run near a lot of heat and abrasion sources with the upper control arms and exhaust so I'm not a huge fan of it in this application.
