Which trans fitts tunnel

Hello I'm putting a ls3 in my 85 442. I need to know which computer controlled automatic trans will fitt with no tunnel modification.

I've seen the 4L60E. The 4L80 I don't know, sure seems large.

I think the answer to your question would depend at least partially on whose mounts you're going to go with, for your LS swap. As far as I know, if you go with the Hooker/Holley swap arts, then you should be able to use the 4L80E, without any floor modifications. If you're looking at using the newer 6L80E or 6L90E, those transmissions are larger, and will likely require modifications to the floor, for adequate clearance. Hope this helps.

4L80E fits with no issues at all.

CM1SCW has a 6 speed auto in his monte without tunnel mods. G-body tunnel is relatively big.

Thanks fellow gbody family for the replies. I have a friend who builds trans all day at a chevy dealer who can build me a 4l80 like new. Thanks

We have a member here with an aero back, an LS3 or L92 engine and 6L80 or 90. Supposedly fit right in there.
