I didn't update the air cleaner thread I posted, but here is the end result. Bar50 recommended the base, and I ended up ordering the filter top from speedway motors also, and the filter element came from pep boys. All together paid like $80 for the extra drop base, the filter, and the top which was still a little cheaper than the whole package without the extra .5" drop base. Barely clears the hood, had to trim the hood trim push pin slightly.

This car is all about performance and function, before aesthetics. Full interior and street amenities (sans a/c), but eventually planning for a cage and extremely serious sbc. If I upgrade the heads on this motor I should be above 500 hp easily. And maybe turbo down the road, but I think I'm gonna start building a motor from the ground up. I know what's in this one but I didn't put it all together as far as the short block. We'll see. All I know is that it will be small block chevy because that is what I know and like.

I used to shift this thing with a less capable th350 in a car that was 1000 lbs heavier, at 6500 rpm so I know it can handle it. The carburetion was not as good nor was the intake, but I did have a MSD 7al2 for ignition which was definitely more high rpm appropriate.
