well how in the world do i get on both ends of that circuit lol

How you're doing it would work as long as the other end of the circuit is also grounded.

generally with my snapon meter if the circuit is open it will just read ouch signifying its open. is the sense wire grounded? i dunno you tell me lol.

I would bet you probably measured it right as you probably have a good enough understanding in how circuits work. If the alternator needs it to read a little higher resistance, do as pontiacgp suggested and wire in a simple 100ohm(ish) resistor you can buy for practically nothing from Radioshack in series with the wire. I wouldn't think too much current would be running through it so a 1/4 to 1/2 watt resistor should be fine.

if your alternator was charging before then why not bypass this testing and just install the adapter wire since that plus the ohms you have measured will end up well within the acceptable range. Even if you didn't measure that wire correctly you will still be in the range. I used the Napa adapter with the SC alternator and it works perfectly..

well essentially what im getting at is i believe that napa sold me the right package but it was stuffed with the wrong adapter. so should i get them to get me the right one and use it essentially. the right one would be the one with the resister (ECH-EC82)

if there is a bulge in the line then it has the resistor, I don't have mine to look at right now but I am sure it also has heat shrink over the resistor

No resistor. I already looked and measured resistence as 0. It's just 2 plugs and 2 wires in some split loom

here's a picture of the EC82..

Def not what I have lol
