That is strange, I have never seen on of those pins metric in a G body. The carriers were build by a third party and they didn't go metric as far as I know.. :?:
I checked and triple checked prior to my posting (Hoping you were right and I was wrong) If I had to wager a bet, 7.5mm . Happy hunting in the AM........pontiacgp said:That is strange, I have never seen on of those pins metric in a G body. Yup, done that before. Not gonna do it inside my rear-end tho, DUH. I will man up if you buy me a new rear-end when I **** up that pin bolt?megaladon6 said:i have seen a few that no wrench fit. usually i found the one that was just too small, tapped it on with a hammer and got it done.

pontiacgp said:You just have to remove the pinion shaft to get the axles out...remove the pin, use a 5/16 6 point to remove the pin, not a 12 point (it will round it off). You'll have to remove one cap so mark it to make sure it goes back on the same way it came off. The turn the housing 180* so you can tap the pinion shaft out about an inch and then turn the carrier 180* so you can use the pin to help you get the shaft out. The push the axles in and and remove the C clips..

You do not need to remove a cap to get bolt out, have done dozens of rear axle seals and bearings in rearends and have never removed a cap. I have broke one pin but it came out with a pocket screw driver (seriously)!!! It is a very easy job to remove the axles, just take your time and you will get it.
