Wow, that's a serious write up. Thanks for the info, prolly gonna just go by the tach for a while and maybe play with some microcontrollers and a servo motor to drive the speedo (1000 rotations per mile???). I want to go digital but really wanna see that needle swing more and settle with a gauge pod for the vitals.

I got this thing running and the transmission is in limp mode for some reason. Gotta rig up the DLC to my tester and find out why...gotta love electronics.

The hardest part was running the fuel lines because I insisted on steel instead of hose or braid. I still maintained my push connections at the tank and re-bent the stock tahoe lines till they got me over the 'hump' and into the frame rail.

good news is that, after triming 1.5" out of the height of the 'VORTEC' box on the engine, the hood closes!!! I need to get custom hoses made for the A/C but even the port that sticks straight up clears. Sounds beastly with open headers and fires up everytime as soon as you turn the key!

transmission is in limp mode because it has to have a 40 pulse speed sensor, no other way to work around it.

Truck motors starting in 93 only came with a 40 pulse system for the VSS speed sensor. You can not delete it. connect the original speed sensor in your transmission, plug in the wiring harness and transmission will work perfect. There is not 1,000 pulse system for 93 and up truck motors.

i am still in the middle of my 5.7 vortec w/2004r and i used a breather cap from a 2002 s-10 vortec and i hav good hood clearance

I got you there. FYI I'm running the 4l60e with the stock sensor. I never even took the harness off the transmission and it worked great before I yanked it. I just put the cats and O2s back on tonight maybe it will like having O2 signals again and just work.
I don't have any blown fuses under the hood.

Merry Christmas Brother, if you get some codes and dont have a book, I got a ton and can help. Good luck!

Merry Christmas as well!! I finished the exhaust and hooked up the scanner and it runs fantastic in closed loop and no MIL or codes!!!!

I think I figured out the problem. Pin A2 on the C100 connector is not hooked to anything and I believe it needs +12V Ignition power for the shifter sensors. I'll fix this tomorrow and then post up some new vids.

Here are some pics of the exhaust, the cats are working and it doesn't throw any codes. BTW I'm running a tubular k-member.

Might end up deleting the cats later but I had to establish the baseline. Even with 2.29 gears this motor is a HUGE improvement.
