We got the back ordered Super Brights bulbs for the tail lights today. Now other than the headlights (which will be H4's later) all the exterior bulbs are LED. Since Jr. had a friend over he didn't get to see the joys of pulling out '79-'80 Monte Carlo tail light bulbs as I swapped them out. I knew the flasher fuses won't work with them all in but still tried the turn signals & 4 ways just to ensure everything works which it all does. The brights are dim cause of the flashers arn't the right ones. I'm going to start anther thread on the need for a good set of flasher fuses for LEDs so it'll be there for future searches.
Looks like they have gone up, but this is similar to what I got for the Monte

We got the vinyl roof in today. It has the box & invoice dated FEB 1979 with it when it was shipped from the Doraville, Ga plant to a dealer in SC. Must of originally been sent as a defect warranty replacement since it has a VIN for the Monte it was ment to go on. Some reason it never made it on to that car so almost 45 years later it's closer to being used as a replcement. It'll need a bit of a cleaning as there's a tacky film on it but everything is soft as it should be & has great color. I'll need to be laid out in the sun or have some mild heat to work out the folds from sitting all these decades. Since it looks lik it'll still have a landau roof I guess I'll have to be the good dad & spring for a new set of '79 landau/crest emblems I'm watching on Fleabay.

Not much of anything have been done other than me collecting a few things since last month for Jr. Did break down & got some new (non-packaged NOS?) landua/crest to go with the new vinyl roof, the flasher fuses for the LED lights, gasket set for the Saginaw & had the repop back up light switch harness. Then today he got his wire harnesses from Ugly1 which we both thank him for them. Again this site for the most part is a great source.

Ordered up some KYB Excel G shocks for Jr. Had a Summit coupon that needed to be used so it was some motivation to get the ball rolling for both cars as we head into spring.

Actually got onto it today but the owner ran off to learn how to work a clutch on a dirt bike with his uncle. Had to move it first & found out the posi is work fine but now I have some grass to fix. Brakes are still sketchy & no stoppy too good. Really need to get those axle lines replaced. Installed the flasher fuses mclellan83 suggested & now 4 ways & turn signals work again. Then I got working on the headlight buckets to repaint them & cleaned up the retaining rings to find out a used set I ordered had the spot welds that hold the ring as a loop gave out & one had it happen with the screw tab do the same. Thank fully I still had one good one in what I had already. Not the best but I have a pair to use for now. Found out none of the headlight bezels are really any good as they all have cracks or broke. So another add on to the need list. Then as I wrap up thing Jr. shows up with his cousin & a couple of their buddies to show off his ride.

Finally got a set centers for the wheels from Year One since trying to find good used ones. We already had a set of Ebay Monte Carlo crest inserts in the right diameter Jr. picked out after we had the car brought home but they included a set of repop Chevrolet inserts that wil be put into reserve incase they are ever needed. Looks good, he likes how they look & goes with the Landau package. OCD made me put crest tip towards the valve stems.

I found out tonight I now have to quit putting off the replacing of the heater control valve as while moving the car it bleed out like a stuck pig. Thankfully I just got a set of flair nut crows feet so I at least broke it free for a father & son project tomorrow (weather permitting). Then I'm coming to the conclusion that a new set of calipers. Since I pluged the port for the rears on the master cylinder I still get no brakes. There was still fluid in the reservoir I figured the fronts were still so so enough for moving round the yard. No bueno. I guess the brake parts will be getting ordered up now.

Told told him I'll try my best to at least get it to the Elderton car show in July but I need to check with Penndot about getting antique plate since it already has an antique title. Hate to have to try to get four good pictures before the body work. I'm willing to pay extra to get a "personalized" one to us an older purple plate instead of the current issue.
