What color to paint with blue interior

I got some black spray dye for fabric. Unfortunately it doesn’t work as well as the navy one that I have. Unless something changes, it looks like I’ll be rolling with navy. I did find a blue that I think will work with the navy.
I dont know. Thats a really bright blue. I know its your car and your taste but if you want opinions I dont think it will look right. Not all shades of all colors go together. I'll probably be the only person that thinks that though. LOL

No, I'll agree with you.

I think it either needs to be a light shade or something that is a very dark end.

Something thats... what's the word... too much of a cobalt/indigo blue shade would probably be off to me too.

Messing with colors all day everyday for my job I completely understand. Most people don't know how to describe it but it's not shades but more tone (cool vs warm tones). You can have a cool colored gray (blue and green tones) or have a warm colored gray (yellow and red tones).

Sometimes it's easiest when describing whites, there are super bright whites (cool tone) and there are creamy whites (warm tones).

Finding the perfect color is different for everyone unless the goal is to match a specific color.

I am hoping if you are sticking with the blue interior it is at least something worth keeping like a nice factory bucket /console set up especially if the whole look of this car is being based off the interior color and if not then black is such a readily available color in factory and aftermarket for seats etc and easy to match.
Nothing sets off a nice paint job like a nice interior that compliments it.

And I'd honestly say that given the effort you're putting into body prep, and the cost of paint materials these days EVEN doing it yourself, make it something you're happy with.

You've been putting lots of effort into this car. If the goal is to have a fixed gbody that showcases your professional abilities that's one thing. If your goal is to have thebcar you want for your personal enjoyment that's another.

Have you considered going tutone on the interior? Mixing carpet, dash, door, seat, carpet etc colors? Some could be navy, some black.... for now. Then as you find the rest of the parts you finish the changeover?

I kind of agree. I was just thinking because it doesn’t have the heavy red flop like the current crop of blues out there. Once I finish the floor, and reinstall the interior, I’ll start doing some spray outs of colors to see.

Monte ss cluster, second gen f body console, fiero buckets, 79 H/O shifter. The seats screw me up a little because it makes me have to get custom upholstery. I have g body buckets but they’re not as comfortable. I have spray dye that will work on the seats in navy. The black won’t take for some reason.
I kind of want a stock but slightly updated look to the car. I really would love to put a crazy color on it but it’s not right for the car. So I’m trying to find a good balance.

When I bought my 81 Malibu I hated the interior color. When I decided to change the bench to buckets I figured it would be simple to get the matching cloth and just have the two seats done. Of course that whole thing turned into a fiasco. In the end I had the rear seat, rear panels and the front door panels all redone. Then I did the carpet and wound up respraying the two front door lowers and the kick panels. I had just finished spraying some of the pieces and I sat down in my garage and realized I could have changed the whole interior color with a little more work and a new headliner. What do they call that ? Piss poor planning ?
When I was at the upholstery shop the owner thought the GM cloth I used was a pretty odd color. Didnt think it would look good. Once everything was together I brought him a few pictures and he changed his opinion. To be honest Im still kicking myself for not changing it but at this point its in and done. Not doing it now and the colors grown on me. Its an OEM color that came with that color paint but if I had to do it again I would have done it in a charcoal gray.
With a navy interior I would look at a really dark blue paint. I think Toyota has a color like that. Almost like a midnight blue from the old days. Like I said, not all colors go with all colors.

Look up Mr Mike's seat covers. Affordable, and custom for the fiero crowd. Available in every color/configuration under the sun, plus, aside from colors he does all the different pleat/design styles for those cars from the factory.

Will do. Right now I’m going to dye fiero buckets blue and throw them in. The f body console is blue already. I was surprised at well the seats and console fit the car. I thought they would look out of place, and too euro, but they fit. The seats are pretty comfortable too.
