9 times out of ten the back brushes in an altonator are glazed worn but rarely stuck one a toyota brushes desentigrated (weird).one a rough slip ring had plowed brush material (powder) into the rear brush were when it was poked with a long finger it was dislodged I sand polished the rough slip ring the dam thing was still working a year later.Okay the dumbest one of all after disambiguation a 100 amp bus delco I found what ?...a dry blade of grass sandwiched between the brush and slip ring yes that grass was kind of like straw anyway many the trials including locked front bearings (10) former cost....got brushes? If not polish the slip rings with 400 sandpaper and sand .010 off the existing brushes clean any loose grease off the rear area with gas. Ect. And slap it back on the car used to use a happiness or wire to hold your brushes in the brush holder depends...Looks like I will be buying an alternator today. Didn't want to start yesterday so I ran the cables off the Camry to charge it while I did my annual New Years BBQ. Got it to fire up after 20 mins of Rickshaw power ( thx Peg ) but it wouldn't restart after running on its own for another 30 mins. All my tools are at work so it's either the 6 month old battery or the 10 year old alternator that took a dive for the first repair 2021
