What did you do to your G-Body today? [2011-2018]

finally got around to ordering a couple of horn gaskets for my quadrajet, I ordered two of those and another set for another member from this side of the border. In the past since they don't sell the horn gaskets separate in Canada I would have to order a rebuild kit that goes for $60 to $70 just for the horn. For the 4 horn gaskets and shipping I paid $28.93 US which comes to $38.78 Can. Anyone here needs any rebuild kits only missing the horn gasket? 🙂

Washed it yesterday. Put my gate clicker in today as I am taking to my old shop to put M-21 in.
Pedals in, bell crank in. everything ready

I feel like a kid...I just can't wait:0

Thx for those gaskets steve !! Now that's another thing on my to-do list.
I will ponder said list Thursday night when I take the car out to meet some friends for first beers n wings ( aka liars club ) of 2017

Ed, in the very recent past I have used 2x ratchet straps attached to a forklift fork ( but sure a garage roof truss will do ) to pull the door and change the pins on my safari van for the 2nd time in 11 years. If you need a hand give a holler

Today I found out the driver's door is heavy and should involve two people to remove. No damage done except to raise my heart rate in to redline.

Not a hair raising or heart racing problem for me . . . and at my age neither would be good . . . but on my aforementioned "swapping the power antenna from hell" project that you all are already too painfully aware of, I found out the hard way just leaving the passenger door open for about a freakin' month because the fender is loose but not off will cause a pretty noticeable chiropractic door adjustment. Just more stupidity on that project to add to the pile . . .

Just FYI for anyone that cares, it looks like the Gbodyparts lower door panels were actually made for JBL 6.5s. Though there is somewhat of a standard involved, when you look at the spec particulars on different brands/models, they are all slightly different. No trimming of the hole required AND JBL includes a really nice round metal flange in the kit with a backwards rolled edge to make it "really stiff" that fits perfectly on the back side to nicely hold and protect that otherwise just plastic speaker mount. I should have bothered the sit the speaker in their straight and then take the shot "straight on" at the speaker so you can see how well it fits. The grill comes right to the outside edge of the speaker mount on the panel.

I think it is safe to say that . . . I am pretty stoked!

Mr axisg: Re door remount. Fortunately I just realized the orientation of the semi open car door lines up with the heavy duty garage door motor brackets. I already have two straps securing moving blankets around the door and all I need to do is attach a winching rope. I can get the door to the right height and the support rope will keep it vertical.

Mostly I was using a red scotchbright. On the bottom side I was scrubbing off red overspray, high build primer overspray, and my favorite, clear overspray over dirt. On the top, it was mostly dirt and some grease but there was a huge glob of the sealer that was used to seal the diesel-specific firewall sound deadener to the firewall. There are lots of nooks and crannies and I want all of it to be clean, so you could say I was working on it with a Q-tip.

Alas, I suppose when I look at a car in pictures it's easy to forget that if you get really up close and personal, a lot of that exists, and takes while to get off. I was thinking more along the lines of just a rub a dub washing rather than detailing.

The paint on my car is pretty nice but they slopped a lot of overspray on the undercarriage and some of the underhood.

Spent a few hours tonight scraping sealer off of the top to my HVAC case. Fun! Will attack it with some 3M adhesive remover tomorrow night. You guys that have cars that were originally equipped with gasoline engines, be grateful. All this extra sealer from the diesel is a pain!

So after painting my door handles to match my trim...i let them cure for a couple weeks. Went to unhook them from hanging and wanted to test the durability of the trim paint. After meticulously following the SEM prep process, the paint literally just scraped off as seen in this pic.....

Pissed off, i called up the guy that coated all my window trim and he quoted me a price couldn't turn down! I dropped them off today, hopefully get em back next week. At least they will be durable when done and match my trim exactly.
