Positive Crankcase Ventilation:
These older carbs have a tendency to plug up the vacuum passage to the PCV valve restricting vacuum due to a lot of things.
Multi-viscosity oil
Too cool of engine temp not allowing condensation to evaporate. Get me going on cooling system thermostats some day🙂
Wrong or faulty PCV valve. AC Delco has a 100 numbers but another company has 5 to replace the hundred. Remember a PCV valve is a METERED vacuum leak. Cannot tell you how many cars I fixed by installing a correct PCV valve. Buy the right AC Delco and be done with it.
I see a lot of cars with a PCV valve in the left rocker cover and the PCV air intake in the same cover. They need to be in opposite sides. The engine has to breath.
When you remove the valve covers to change the gasket make sure the oil returns are clear on each end of the cylinder heads. They have a tendency to plug on engines that are not properly maintained preventing the oil from returning to the crankcase and leaking into the valve guides.
OK.....off soap box for tonight
Y'all have a great evening

Received my UMI lower control arms w/ 1/2 taller balljoint from ups the other day. I already have UMI adjustable upper so I thought why not? So excited to install these!!

Not today, but last night I went to the Laundromat and washed 4 full loads of "garage jeans". My Wife won't let me wash them at home in her brand new front loader..

Its weird the sign says "no pet blankets", bur washings clothes that were soiled from laying under a car at the junkyard for 6 hours removing parts are fine. Most of the grease and smells are gone, but red clay and rust don't come out...ever.

Now I'm good for about 21 days of working in the garage.

It's the little things that hold up (progress on) the car...

Needed make a set of shock relocation brackets for the disc brake conversion. You see, the shocks keep the coil springs from falling out when you lift the car off the back wheels...

Yours at least still had a bolt in it. I need to fish the rest out of the body and make a new one. I'm glad the other 9 turned out intact.
