Yea but it sands like a brick lolSMC adhesive and filler is what should be used to repair it if it is the OE panel. Fiberglass could work, but does not generally hold up long term on SMC panels. U-pol Fiberal also works well as a filler and has the added benefit of fibers in the product to add a little strength
I was up until 3AM reading your build thread over at the LS1 forum. Ripping yarn - mega kudos for all the hard work, creativity and attention to detail!
Is there any chance your problem with running lean at the top end was from the fuel pump starving due to slosh? Did you see the WBO2 reflect the lean condition or were you kinda busy when it happened? ;-)
Best of luck figuring it out - I'm sure you will - Gary
Another guy giving me garage Envy!I got my redneck paint booth built and laid a seal coat down to start the filler work.
Cheep is dear Maco doesn't care you do but I will say I have done the body work on many cars and sent them to Maco for paint with mixed success don't choose a Maco choose a painter that works there and grease him .,....get it?Yeah, they're getting filled. They were the holes from the 3 piece body side molding. That, the front fender, and the rear rot are what spurred this whole SNAFU. The aluminum rivets from the factory started rust spots on the doors; it was pretty ugly. I figured they'd hold more filler if I dinged them with a ball peen.
You have no idea how scared of body and paint work I was when I started. Now, I'm starting to think to myself "damn! that looks good. I got this!"
Never again, though. MAACO is alot cheaper. Thanks again for the kind words!!
