Went to see my friend to get a new head unit for my system. When I explained to him what I was doing with the head unit when the problem occurred he said that it's probably the ribbon for the faceplate. So I took my spare head unit that was stuck on dim display out of the GP and took the ribbon out and put it in my main head unit. Now I have a fully functioning radio again. The Apline unit that I have is from 2004 but the normal price on Ebay for a used one is over $250 US. My friend know I can afford it any high end head unit in his store but instead he told me what the problem was that was an easy fix, friends like that are rare.....🙂
that's pretty cool. The display went out on my radio last fall ( same issue ) but the remote still works. So as long as my memory holds out I am good to go.
