Just kept racking up the miles while looking at the Fall colours.

Got both halves of the bumper apart yesterday, took a chunk outta my right middle finger (decided against pics) and started wire wheeling to get the rust chunks. It's a little more rusty than I expected, but once it's painted and polished it won't look half bad for a $25 bumper. Also ordered a battery hold down off ebay from the parts place, should be here today or tomorrow. Needs it to be legal for drag racing. Tech frowns upon bungees for battery hold downs, but let it be known they won't let you not race with a bungee hold down.

More wire wheeling and scraping to get the chunks off. Backside of the bumper in some spots is crusty, give it another year with the mice and there'd be pinholes. I'm kind of thinking of cutting the bumper support in half (it's the earlier full style compared to the smaller lighter style from the 84+ regals) to cut out most of the rot. Had to stop, got dark and rain started rolling in. Got the brace painted as well as I could of with old VHT engine primer (all I had) and old Duplicolor Semigloss black. Barely got the backside of the bumper cover cleaned up and primed when I ran out of primer and paint. As soon as I started painting, the wind that was blowing one direction all day suddenly f*ckin started in the opposide direction, so I had to move all my stuff into the backyard so I wouldn't cover my dad's silver nissan in grey and black specks. With 0000 steel wool the bumper cleans up very well. Down the line I will get a white paint marker and re do the white line on the front and rear impact strips as well. I keep saying it, but all things considered, I got a damn deal for $25 by pure luck.

Replaced the outer window felt sweeps on Bernadette today. I was amazed when I took off the door panels how clean the inside of the doors were for a '87 and it's never been raped. Everything from the pad to the paper were mint, just replaced a couple panel clips. I even found the department door pad bcast sheet attached to the inside of the drivers door.

New pump, pickup, timing chain, balancer and water pump finally in.

I always like to weld a tack on the pick up tube just to make sure it doesn't move or fall off, when I did my pump with the engine in the car I found pan studs really helped to keep the gasket in place when installing the pan....🙂

Ordered a set of inner and outer today myself, as well as the anti rattle pads

I ordered inners and outers as well from G-Body couple weeks ago. I was curious as to what brand they were. Look to be Fairchild. Better quality than the ones I previously purchased. Definitely would buy these again.

Good pick. I bought mine from Rockauto, and they are fairchild brand. I actually bought sweeps for a GN since they're all black, and the only issue I ran into was a couple screw holes being off just enough to tweak the sweep. I carefully opened up said holes and they look great....
