Inferior parts and reassembly haste strike again. You never think of this kind of stuff until it doesn't work. The o-ring seems to be an RCH too big, and the lock ring flange was considerably smaller than the other one I found in the shop. Pair them together, and a leak is inevitable. Crossing my fingers that I got it right this time.

I hate to say it but you have to be doing it wrong.

I'm speechless. So much :wtf:
that's like the wife telling me I "lied by omission".

Too much thinking involved

COME ONNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After a 15 (or 20 year) hiatus my wife and daughter pushed me into pulling the long dormant Cutlass out of hibernation. After clearing some room to move I aired up the tires and lowered her from her pedestal and we pushed her outside into the daylight. I cleaned out a bunch of dead mice and crap. Then of course they wanted to hear it run, so I pulled all the plugs, unplugged the HEI, sprayed oil in all the cylinders and rolled her over a few times to build up some oil pressure. Reinstalled the plugs and through in a battery from my boat and hooked up a temporary fuel tank and let her rip. She fired up in short order but the carb was belching gas out the vents and flooding out the engine. The carb has been dry for years, probably needle valve hanging up. I'll dig into it next chance I get. Beyond that I cleaned up the dash and door panels and pushed her back into the garage and lifted her back onto the pedestal. Felt good to putter on the Olds again, the interior smelled familiar and brought back memories. The car hasn't seen the road since 1992 when I tore it down.
