Good news on this at least, been through the flexplate 4 times and haven’t found anything more than chopped powdercoat. SFI 14.1 FTW

Know exactly what you mean, most guys I see nowadays are just above that of a parts store clerk. Take parts off, put parts on, usually the most expensive they can buy.

Last night got a whole lot of nothing finished but did get most everything right there, got the console mount done and partially mounted in because there is still some play in the console which I don't like. Went to put the passenger door together but need to flip the window switch, went to do that and it all but crumbled in my hands. I was successful in getting the rear panels in after I trimmed down the uppers to be able to fit in with my new board. But got frustrated when I can't seem to find the right screws for the rear headliner panel that go into each corner. Figured I should do a little research on the 3 clips that go with it as well since they weren't installed when I got the car. And last but surely not least was the two headunits, I was able to get the top one mainly secured but isn't far enough in to be able to get the trim piece I made to fit. Figured at least at the moment it is secure so moved down below and got the lower one as far in as it would go to realize that one now is also not far enough back for my liking and not as secure as I had hoped. So I think I will be taking the lower one back apart to try and mount it a different way.

Finished up painting switches, they’re all ready to go back on the doors.

Also seen in the photos is a Homelink remote from a Cadillac. Looking for spots to mount that as well. Simple wiring, just a positive and negative.
Thought about going that route for Homelink, ended up pulling the trigger on a new rear view mirror to get that and LED map light.

Dickin around with the wipers. I had the wrong wipers on it in a pinch quite a while ago and they would get stuck on/under the hood, so I either bent or stripped something. I took the wiper arms and the movement arms out and looked them over, nothing seemed out of the ordinary, so I put them back and adjusted them as much as I could. Driver's side parks up against the stops just fine, passenger seems to not want to that last inch. :L

Finally got the new starter installed after 3 hours of work, fired right up with no issues aside from the dipstick tube rattling around on the frame makin me think the flexplate was trashed after all

And on the plus side, not having the main positive lead hooked up to the starter only delayed me and hour.

Changed my brake pads on the front of the Bonneville and during the test drive, the passenger side brake caliper started dragging hard. I am pretty sure the brake hose has collapsed as they were both original to the car and the outer sleeve was breaking away on the passenger side. I have new ones on order but they won't be here to tomorrow. Hopefully driving 5 or 6 miles home didn't trash the caliper or rotor. It smelled bad enough that we had to close the windows in the house.
