Also found this disconnected wire below that baffle. It’s tied in with the headlight harness but I don’t know what it’s to or where it goes. It’s black and has a single female spade end inside of a plastic housing. I’m assuming a ground for something but can’t tell. Anyone know where it goes? Thanks in advanced.
That looks like a horn wire, it's a green wire. All Monte Carlo's came with dual horns but I'm guessing you only had one.

I wondered if that may be it but my horns are in the drivers side fender area and both plugged in as they should be. This stray wire end is on the passenger side towards the middle of the car.

Depending on how GM did the wires on the assembly line they might of left that wire loose & run a jumper harness from the other horn connector to where the SS had their horns.

I was giving the Malibu a much needed Interior cleaning with the armor all and vacuum, while looking around under the seats (No coinage found unfortunately) I found something very very interesting and rare at the same time.

Usually the first thing that gets removed and discarded from mine (not a smoker), but then, I've never had one that was a virgin, they're usually pretty nasty.

Malibus got their horns inside the left fender, single or double.

Still waiting for my alternator from RockAuto but I didn’t wanna lose out on the great AZ summer weather we got today (the high was only around 90). I ordered new push pins for my front fascia and decided to take it off and clean behind it while it was out as well as install my radiator cross bars.
I wasn’t too happy to find what I did below the fascia when I removed it. Rust on the upper baffle/air deflector/whatever. I wasn’t happy with the overspray on it anyways and planned to spray it black too but didn’t wanna see the rust. Oh well, it cleaned up very well and is drying with it’s second coat of paint + primer right now.

Once that was removed I got to installing the braces. Went in fairly easily.

Man 😓😓😓. . This I will be going through myself on the 81' Malibu, Allot of Surface rust clean up due to the fact that the front sits so low to the ground. Everything from the Battery Tray down to the Rad support has to get sanded. Then I am going to use a Rust Converter (Though I am still trying to decide which brand to use) I gotta take off everything or close to it just like this. 😓😓😓 It's a perfect reminder how much work I am going to put in just to make things right. In the end I still think it's worth it. 👍.

Got my Fedex Delivery today from Rock Auto I received both the Transmission Filter and Water Pump. Won't be until Friday that I get the Dimmer Switch I need.
