What Did You Do To Your G-Body Today? [2020]

The pictures are a day apart.

Rust bubbles..... lots of that was just where the paint is worn thin. I quick hit with the buffer and some Wizard heavy cut compound took it right away followed by a coat of cheap wax. Full disclosure: other spots required some touch up. But since it's only my beater (see pictures of my other, much nicer stuff) gloss white Rustoleum on a small brush makes it look good enough for pictures and 50 feet away. 😗

I suppose eventually I might take it all down, fix the hundreds of dents and blast a cheap Maaco type job on it at home.

Installed a new door jamb switch. Unfortunally it didn’t fit so i had to tap new thread . Installed the switch but still didn’t work. After placing a ring behind the switch things worked fine. This supposed to be a plug and play switch 😬

Got the carpet started finally after I got my Air Ride to link up with my phone, got the sides cut down and all but one of the front driver seat holes cut in it. I was also doing some painting on trim which turned into also finishing something for the bathroom at the same time since it was using the same color.

What’s the story on the horn button? The pic is a little grainy but the emblem looks sweet!

broke down and bought a new battery for it today. Last one was dated 2014. Dropped it in today and it cranks good now. I checked the vitals and noticed the overflow was..... empty. Checked the rad and it's 6" down from the top. If it's not one thing......

I figure the intake gasket let go ( again ). It did this a couple years back when I did the cam swap too. It is so much happier when I DD it. The last 2 years with low miles seems to make it grumpy and break stuff 🙂

Pre-Posting this, because it will be done tomorrow morning, and I will be out of pocket, even more than I have been lately...

1986 Grand Prix LE - Stock was 14" Rims, Rally Tuned (Y99 Option Code - basically heavy duty springs, shocks, and stabilizer bars F and R - a whole $50 at the time)

Currently Running:

Front:
Cragar SS 15" 15x8 - 215-65-15 RWL Cooper Cobras

Rear:
Cragar SS 15" 15x10 - 255-60-15 RWL Cooper Cobras

That gave it a nice minimal stance, with no rubbing in the front, but the rear, on a good Dip, will hit the quarter.. but the springs are just wore out. 4 people in the car, the rear rubs badly... (enough to eject two passengers, but thats another story)

I originally put Regular Monroe shocks on it and didnt like them... still bouncy, but thats probably the springs having more to do with that than anything.

Installing in the morning:

Moog 5608 Front Springs
Monroe Load Adjusting Shocks 58270

Moog 6321 Rear Springs
Monroe Load Adjusting Shocks 58411

Hopefully, that makes things a little nicer.. we shall see.

-Gonz

there is no postdated winner smiley so I'll post it tomorrow....

Attempted to do my rear 4 body bushings. Went about as terrible as I expected.
Also some sh*t showed up. All from rock auto, rear bumper, headlight bzels, marker light, driver bumper marker light. Bezel+marker fitment is meh at best. have a dremel at the ready. No hardware included, as expected.

Will make a separate thread about body bushing questions.
