Opened the hood, gazed at it for awhile, then closed it again. I don't have anything to do, I've done it all . All I can do now is mess something up!

Computer controlled carb. Are you still running the computer with all its components and is/was it working properly. No Check Engine Light or codes?

Removed the water pump that finally gave its last go a few weeks ago. Cars been on jacks for a few months as I piece together the suspension and I’ve been trying to run it every now and then to keep things lubed and all that. Well last time I ran her the water pump sounded like crap and started smoking. Turned her off and called it dead. Finally got around to ordering a replacement today so I pulled the old one.

You can see the spray of rust colored filth this thing was slinging in the engine bay. I’ve been wiping it all off as I work through the engine bay. Really tainted the fresh look of my new alternator I had put in a few months back. Oh well.

Day? of my brake work. Gave the first drum a fast douche with some CFC free brake cleaner and then a good hosing with air from the compressor. Would have preferred lacquer thinner but have not as yet located that gallon can so I can refill my quart container. After that it was put up the cardboard spray deflector and bombs away. it gets to dry over night. That done, I chucked a small wire wheel in the drill and removed the minimal amount of surface rust that the shoe pads on the passenger backing plate had acquired and shot them black too. Finally went back to the driver's side, tore it down, removed the old e-brake actuating lever and spring assembly and plugged in the new one. I will also have to reset the shoe adjuster as it was also a victim of urban renewal. That is just a matter of trial and error as the backing plate has never had its adjuster hole punched out and i have no plans to open it now. Just another opening to let water and crap in.

Even though my shop is warm and comfortable outside is not and I could bulk freeze popsicles en masse without needed a freezer. I/2 hour or less for a beersicle.

With my '99 done for the moment, the 64's steering column shortening project in a hold pattern while sorting bearing info, & side work for my GF's ride completed, I switched gears this week back to the taller front inner wheel tubs for the Malibu. In these images is the 3rd fender that's been cut/modified; mounting tab locations; the difference of material removed from my 1st attempt on a (different fender/yellow material) vs 3rd attempt (current fender/black material); & general idea of all mounting tab locations (front/on flange, center/on flange, rear/on flange, rear-most/not part of the flange).

I smashed the passenger side window with a screwdriver, thinking I could pop the clip off the lock cylinder without getting pliers.
