What Did You Do To Your G-Body Today? [2021]

Two weeks ago I broke a valve spring. Dropped the valve, breaking the exhaust and bending the intake, beating up the top of the piston and cracking the cylinder wall. All I wanted to do was gas it up and bask in the glory of a successful sending unit wire job. I imagine it could've been worse if I was going down a strip.

I had my SBC 350 rebuilt with a .477/.480 lift cam. Now just patiently waiting for the shop install it in my 81 Elco.

At least in terms of the install you and me both. Shop won't be messing with the 350 I bought until next Tuesday.

I put the pass side Door back on my Malibu coupe. Never again!

I feel you. I had to replace the lower door hinge on the Driver side last Summer, and ultimately I may have to replace the upper door hinge as well. Door comes off easy, but to put it back on I had to use a Screw driver to help align the holes up. . . Not looking forward to having to do it again.

Why remove it for that?

Open the door, rest it on a jack with a piece of wood on top of the pad cranked up against the flat part of the inner underside just till it takes the weight off.

Remove one hinge leaving the other attached to keep alignment roughly in place. Then do the other.

Saves wrestling the weight and starts you off roughly aligned needing only slight tweaking.

I did a thing. Whipped it around for a couple donuts behind the warehouse. Auburn Posi keeps kicking in and out for a couple years now with 2 tires spinning sometimes then only one making it a little unpredictable.
Whipped it around and only 1 tire grabbed sending me gently straight in to a pole like an *ss LOL


Nothing damaged but my ego and a little yellow paint on the front bumper.

Put a little yellow on the other side of the bumper and tell everyone you're masquerading as a mopar.

Actually I have had a similar thought after I qouted LT's post. So now I have to kick myself for not having thought of it earlier 🤣. But I was thinking more along the lines of taking a few of the bottom bolts off to keeping one but slightly loose. . . But if it can be done without all that. certainly would make it a hell of allot easier.👍

Found an unpleasantly large puddle of ATF under the Pontiac today. I am hoping a cooler line has came loose, because about all other options are a lot more work to get to.
