Avoided taking it most of the weekend since it acted up last weekend, finally gave in and took it for a ride Sunday to go out to a show that I usually go that has a good mix of stuff with eye candy. Figure I will try to be ahead of the game since last time I ran it very low on fuel because I didn't want to stop and just get it home to avoid any more issues. I walk down to get some 93 to put into it before even trying to start it, well of course it bottlenecks when I first start to put it in goes everywhere. Then finally starts going and try to readjust gas can, boom the filler neck pops off the gas can and tons more gas onto the bumper/filler panel. Try to clean it off as quick as possible since the gas eats the "plasti dip style" paint away, too late ate in pretty good below the plate and has all kinds of paper towel remnants over most of the bumper. So after soaking it down I decide hell with it I am going back inside to cool down in the A/C for a bit.
My buddy messages me that the show I was going to go to had a bunch of people, so after its been an hour or 2 since the last debacle I say hell with it I'll go. Get less than 1/8 mile away and they have the road shut down so you have to take a huge detour to get to it. Finally get there and it is all just the bikers and older people so I just do full loop in the car and leave. Decide to just cruise back for a little and as I get close to home that same buddy asks if I wanna grab some food so I say sure. Park up in the garage in a nice shaded spot, after eating come out and the damn thing does it all over again. No rhyme or reason to it, first time I got to start it everything cuts out and goes completely dead. No lights, signals, or anything with power. I get out hook up the jump pack, still nothing. Smack the gauge cluster in frustration, seemed to have a quick light up of the turn signals and something else possibly. Try to turn it over again and nothing still. Give it a little time, this time you hear the starter clicking but won't start. By this time my buddy pulls up to help and we start going over stuff, everything on the starter is connected and secure. That was his first thought it my be loose, after double checking that we try to start it again and back to no power at all. Let it sit for a bit as we talk about how weird it is since it is all over the place, finally decide to give it another try and boom starts no problem.
My buddy called me yesterday and said he was thinking about it, he thinks it could be a draw since it seems to be better once it sits for a bit on the jump box. But I reminded while I am sure it does have some draw, that last time it did this it started right up then when it died while driving it wouldn't start again. But said all the same I will disconnected the tender and test where the battery is at that point then check it a while later after sitting some time. Tried to do it when I got back from the F9 movie but was way too hot and I got annoyed that the meter wasn't giving me any reading. Figured I will wait until it cools down to try it again. My guess is that it could be one of the nuts are loose on the connections I have in the trunk/ the Optima junk is starting to act up. But both problems are very troublesome since I can't get into the trunk as it is. So hopefully I will get something figured out at some point so I can get it to the G Body Classic, oh and forgot to mention that the air ride was starting to act weird again but think that was because of the whole power issue. The front left bag was showing a really high pressure but was lower than everything else. I will at least throw a pic of my buddy following me home even though I told him not to

I drove the Monte Carlo. Yesterday, I replaced the AC/Heater fan, the resistor and the relay. Today, a 92 degree day, I found out that the heat/AC vent flap cable is disconnected from the flap mechanism, so I had heat blowing on my legs during my 50 miles of driving. When I got home, I had to tackle the little issue of the glove box being stuck closed. I had to get it open and remove it so that I could get to the flap lever. I found absolutely NO helpful articles on how to break into the glove box without damaging it. So I sucked down half of an energy drink, grabbed a sweat band for my head, some screwdrivers, some long picks and my 7mm socket and went at it. In about 30 minutes, I popped the lock. I found a copy of the build sheet, the original owners manual and paperwork from Evans Chevrolet in Greenville where it was bought new. I put the build sheet in a plastic sheet protector and put it in a safe with the rest of the paperwork. Back to the heater flap, I duck taped it closed off from the heater core until I have more time to research the parts to repair it. At least tomorrow, I should be riding a bit cooler than I was today! I have the new parts to convert the system to R134 but that will be my Saturday project.

Not exactly today but the most recent thing I did. Not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but almost too good for my car.
did the same thing to my regal lights. used a metallic silver paint i had on the fiberglass backing thing and it turned out really nice.

week or so ago all the rivets that hold the grille to the mounting bracket broke. fixed that and installed new springs. also put some mufflers on and welded up an elbow on a tail pipe (kinky) using my new titanium 125 hf welder. i like it a lot. im never gonna like build a cage with it for fix anything thicker than an 80s gm frame so it fits my needs just fine.
anyway
my car sounds rowdy af straight piped with headers but im tired of being hassled by police simply for existing. bet if it was a harley they'd give me a parade escort home...

muff clip
Kids these days, don't even know what a muff clip is supposed to look like.

I wasn't sure whether to see a piercing picture, or just a video, but wouldn't have expected a view of just an old car....

He should have hid the car behind a big bush.
