I drove my Regal to work Today to basically test the new smaller alternator pulley was working as planned and it is.
All the Holley parts and components currently in my stash are pre-covid and a few are pre-Columbian, they are that old. i still shell out for hard copies of the few remaining magazines that discurse many of the topics that appear on this forum and can say that I have not seen anything about the sniper in recent articles. Wonder if this is because they have become aware of just exactly what the issues with the Sniper have come to be or if Holley has stopped being an advertiser, which begs the question of solvency at the corporate higher level. Just speculating here, y'know. Can vouch for the oil pan, the damn oil filter threaded piece stripped in the aluminum with barely any snot on it, had to heli-coil it. I already had it in the car so yea that was a process...🙄
1990'sI installed the headliner in the El Camino, which is about a 10 minute job, including the visor screws. The Kit was supposed to have the clips, 3 types , which it did, but unfortunately only half the number needed. Before all the painting inside and out, I had help from a non-mechanic who just broke every single clip. $30 later I bought the clips, $18 for clips and $12 to ship. There are still a few little things left to do inside, like speedo and shifter cables installed, and after, the console tops and door, but I feel like it is done now. I got stiff-armed by the transmission cable , It is a retrofit, but the cable seems to not be the correct one. Anyway, is there a method to install the cable, like one end first then the other or ????. Me thinks it might be a 2 person job. I have the factory tranmission bracket for cable but this is an S-10 shifter. Anyone want to clue me in? The clips for the cable seem slightly too large and so far do not secure it. So far I was working on it from inside since the car is on the ground and it is not simple for me to lift it high. I will have to ask what year S-10 the console fit.
Looks great!! When the windows rolled down they were helpful to keep the fumes out and so now I hope they keep your rear end squatted down at 150 mph! Finally had free time and the G Wagon in the same place. Remove the perimeter portion of the roof rack and plug the hikes with some plastic snap in plugs. Then went to town on modifying the rear wing from an air brake to a wing. I used stainless 6mm x 100 threaded rod, flanged nuts underneath and acorn nuts on top.
