Buttoned up the install of the Thornton headers and Pypes down pipes (DOF10S) this morning. Funny that they are spec’d for ‘68-‘72 BB Olds A-bodies but they fit just fine on my 350 Olds in my ‘80 Cutlass with no clearance issues at all. While under the car it’s clear that it will need more attention everything is dusty and dirty and I noticed my vintage turbo mufflers are showing some rot, not to mention choking the 2.5” Pypes down to the old school tubing bender 2” system I had made 30 years ago. I had to widen the notch on my crossmember another 2”s so I could mend the new pipes to the old ones nice and straight. That went pretty well since I had heavy angle iron and flat stock under the bench. Also had to re route my trans cooling lines to clear the new set up. Going to go and see if I can find 10w40 oil for old engines at the local shops and start it up tonight or tomorrow, been a real hot day and not much cooling off this week.

I installed the headliner in the El Camino, which is about a 10 minute job, including the visor screws. The Kit was supposed to have the clips, 3 types , which it did, but unfortunately only half the number needed. Before all the painting inside and out, I had help from a non-mechanic who just broke every single clip. $30 later I bought the clips, $18 for clips and $12 to ship. There are still a few little things left to do inside, like speedo and shifter cables installed, and after, the console tops and door, but I feel like it is done now. I got stiff-armed by the transmission cable , It is a retrofit, but the cable seems to not be the correct one. Anyway, is there a method to install the cable, like one end first then the other or ????. Me thinks it might be a 2 person job. I have the factory tranmission bracket for cable but this is an S-10 shifter. Anyone want to clue me in? The clips for the cable seem slightly too large and so far do not secure it. So far I was working on it from inside since the car is on the ground and it is not simple for me to lift it high. I will have to ask what year S-10 the console fit.

it's gonna be a sticky week,in the commonwealth stay hydrated

Nick, he said they were just stock LS3 injectors as he bought them new.
Huh. Any specific year? Dealer will want to know that if I have to visit them as there are too many variants using the USCAR version of the injector.
