283 revs so high and sounds so nice....

And has better odds to having a forged crank form the get go.

well, it is out of a '67 Impala with a Powerglide. I rebuilt both about 29-30 yrs ago. block was bored 30 over IIRC but I don't recall whether the crank was forged.
283 is now really a 287 with about 1 hour of runtime. should be plenty of space under the hood for that supercharger and get the big beast moving!

Got to work on the t top rust issue, lots of spot welds to drill out, then remove a pillar only to find more rust underneath that. Well that’s the whole point of this project. I’ll have to fab up around the hood hinges on both sides. Why in the world do they foam in the a pillar at the bottom?

Put the junkyard door panels on the driver's side. It's more red than maroon/burgundy in real life.
Worth the $40 imo. Better than no door panels.

Pressure washed the grimy engine bay, then washed the rest of the car.

I then decided to go ahead and rip the hood insulation off as it was starting to sag and more importantly hold water which has been rusting the hell out of the hood braces.

Also been pondering if I should find a replacement door...

Got the console properly fitted with new front mounts, rewired my starter and fuel pump switch arrangement, and refitted the shifter plate that it came with for the 3 speed with reverse lockout.

Now I’m thinking about refinishing it. It’s been painted already, and wasn’t prepped very well, so there’s paint flaking off all over.
Anyone have any suggestions on what to use to strip this without risking destroying at least the vinyl pieces?

I did order a driveshaft. Should be done beginning of the week. I won't be able to pick it up till Friday. I'll have 5 days off, so should make some good progress.
