What did you do to your G-Body today 2024

Dug into the cloumn that I pulled from the El Camino to get the key code to have a key made just to find out the mount plate(?) for the firewall has some bad rot from the rust mites & some how the lower bearing just pulled out from the end of the tube. I'll see what I have with the '78 auto column I have for parts to fix it or just have as a parts column for the Montes. Then I swapped out the original parking brake pedal pad for the better matching one in Jr.'s car.

Painted my 4 wheels tonight after I got home from work. New tires on Wednesday!

Got the driveshaft in and the bellhousing and torque converter bolts tight.

Woke up at 6pm so I only had a few hours of daylight.
Tomorrow I'll modify a chevy dipstick that used the tophat seal to work on my bop th350.

I'm really hoping this transmission works out for you brother because you got some good thing's coming your way pretty soon.🤞

It looked pretty clean, fluid was ok, the pump is blue for some reason and has different bolts holding it on, so it's at least been monkeyed with once or twice.

Transmission works. Ran out out of fluid to put in, but it had enough to go around the block. Used a can of that kooler kleen to flush the rad cooler. Tons of material.

I "flushed" the converter as best I could, pouring half a quart in, letting it soak, then swishing it around and letting it drain till empty. Did that about 3 times.

So far so good. I'll give it a few hundred miles before I fully trust it to receive a shift kit. Shifts are all present and accounted for but are so soft.

Got the head unit mounted up again, gonna throw some washers on the right side to push it out more and hopefully call it good enough. Then got it out a good bit for the weekend

Gonna finally get rid of those old RadioShack "half round" button lights on my dash for Turn, Park Brake and High Beam and replace them with some modern LED indicators. They look like the little fake flashing lights on the old Star Trek original series consoles, LOL!! There wasn't much available back in like 1990 when I first did the dash gauges.....my friend still kids me about it, and says it looks like a Chris-Craft boat dash. 🤣

I also have a new dash pod to replace the cracking one, and plan to go back to the original gauge cluster and center a/c vent configuration. Just can't decide if I want to keep the analog Phantoms, (I have the matching in dash tach) or spend the crazy $$ for a nice Holley (or other) Digital Dash. Not a fan of the Dakota Digitals, or some others that are direct replacement for the factory rally cluster, which I still have on shelf.

Anyway, these are what I'm swapping in, $10 from the AMZ!
