I put a Ford Escort GT valve cover on one of my Miata's... just because.

I was walking thru the junkyards last summer and stumbled across an 1991 Escort GT. It was a 1/2 price weekend so I said what the heck I think it was $17 for the valve cover. Had to move the coilpack to the firewall and lengthen some hoses, but that was pretty easy. I didn't even have to make an autoparts store run, which is unusual. Oh the stories I can Now make up about a Ford Engine swap.

My dream for Good Guys Autocross is a '72 Ford Courier Pick up with a full miata Suspension/drive train with a turbo 1.8L with a Ford Valve cover.

I also installed an EGR tube and exhaust heat shield, I'd picked up at the junkyard,

Well.... we started the day ripping out 10 year old worn out no-pile carpet. Moved o. To removing tack strips and 3 carpet cycles worth of foam pad staples. Finished it off with some costco laminate flooring... if I was staying it'd be hardwood, but, don't care and resale wise it's not gonna bring extra.

Looks decent for about $1/sq ft including the attached underlayment. Still have a pile left to do one more bedroom.

Then, because I'm a glutton for punishment... or have a junk addiction...

Got another 78 c10 silverado. Interesting color combo. The best part of it is the interior is about an a-/b+ condition - perfect seat, perfect lower door panels, almost perfect uppers that are still flexible plastic. Carpet had some fade on the edge, but pretty nice.

It's the late 70s green... which.... is nice enough, I want to do my truck in turquoise, BUT, for now, the green goes in so my blue stops falling apart even worse.

As for the rest... parts is parts.

Back in the day when I lived home on Long Island, I bought an early 80's B2000 which was rolled over dirt cheap and waited for my buddy who ran a wrecker to find another with a good cab. Lowered it, put on some wide tires, bolted two water filled spares in the bed and took it to the SCCA gymkahana at Smith Point beach. Actually beat a few car's times (including 1 C4 who's owner complained to the judges that a POS pickup should not have been allowed to compete)

Guy I got it from had ripped the drivedrain, column, master cyl, a/c, harnesses, and right 3/4 nose.

Driver fender/door are dented at the bottom.

I'll steal the bed and interior for my white truck, at that point all that's left is a cab and the chassis, some trim parts....

Down here, rust free trucks are parted out constantly... There's a ton of them running around.

I took the Valve Cover off my '98 Jaguar I just bought to check the timing chain tensioners. '96-01 Jag V8's had Plastic body timing chain tensioners that get brittle, crack and eventually shatter and valves hit the pistons about .1 seconds later.

The Metal body tensioner between the cams means my 41K mile 1998's Tensioners were already replaced by a previous owner. The silver would be black or orange plastic. One less thing to worry about. So I bolted the valve cover back on and called it good.

I had to look that up, I didn't realize that the valve cover also covered the chain in a jag....🙂
