I gotta move my heap of a bucket truck to a site today. Need to fuel and water it up for a 3 day job. I got 2 young-uns working it on Monday at 7am, hope they make me money and don't break sh*t !!

Got a first coat of paint on the vise mini project. I was gonna try to fix the busted off lip on the front jaw but I need to get it back together because my small vise just isn't cutting it lol. Anyways I was going to paint it a dark gray hammerite, but Rustoleum doesn't sell it in quart cans anymore so I just decided to just go with something simple and do it in a gloss gray. It needs a second coat and I'll do the letters in white.

Ugh, this one sucks! So at the beginning of the week the wife and I kept catching a whiff of something similar to old fruit with a dash of mildew or mold. It took a few days to pinpoint the smell which narrowed down to one of our basement windows. Turns out the smell is a mixture from the ants(there happens to be odorized house ants) and standing water in the window sills.
We have a walkout and it looks like house ants have found their way in so that's numero uno on the priority list! We also need some quotes to replace the windows as they're leaking water from old age.
Anyways, I started off my sunday with the basement like this....

And now it looks like this.....

The dark areas are from a kitchen sink leak when we first moved in. Everything has been treated with bleach, and the wall paneling has been trashed!!!! I've got a couple ideas brewing to redo the area, but we'll see.

Scott, if you have any water coming in through your basement walls themselves (not sure if you do or not), PM me and I can give you some advice. There are some real scam artists out there who run businesses "fixing" water in basements and really have no idea what they are doing. If it's just the windows though, you don't have to worry about it.

A dehumidifier is a good idea no matter what though. I have one in my basement and it drains right into the sanitary sewer so it never has to be emptied. Keeps the basement dry and mold-free.

Joe, luckily there isn't any water coming through the walls. During the contract period the seller had to have a crack in the wall fixed. I was super concerned early in the week that was the issue since it's been raining non ****in stop it seems!
Yesterday I dug down below the ground level and didn't see any evidence, nor on the inside of the wall....

The black sh*t is from the damn ants. They are enjoying a meal of borax as we speak and many are dying quick.
We have a dehumidifier down there now and it's doing a kickass job.

Found a little ATV at a yard sale. Guy said it hadn't run in two years and that it needed a clutch. It has an auto clutch and a manually shifted 5 speed trans with reverse. I got it home and hosed it down with starting fluid and yanked on the rope. Lit right off!! Pulled the carb and cleaned all the nasty goo out of it. Ran quite well after I put it back together. On to the clutch issue. Pull up on the shifter, nothing. Shifted through all the gears and it didn't flinch. Tried moving it while shifting and still nothing. Put it back into first and pulled the reverse shifter, it moves. That's weird, I thought. If the clutch was smoked then it wouldn't move in reverse either. I pushed the reverse lever back to the forward position, nothing. I pulled the shifter back partially and pushed it forward, click! All forward gears work and the clutch isn't slipping at all. They had managed to find a false neutral and just gave up on it. It needs a stock muffler put back on and a new battery but it rides around! I decided to check the rear differential on a whim and it was gross!! Basically grease that resembled mud and a little bit of water pooled up in there just for good measure. I douched it out half a dozen times and put some light oil back in with a magnet attached to the drain plug to catch all the bearing material that's bound to be floating around. I'll ride it around the place for a bit then swap the oil out for proper gear lube and see how long it lasts. It's a '97 Yamaha Timberwolf 250. Paid $300 bucks for it.
