Saw this on Craigslist for free so I snagged it. Was about an hour and a half away but I was glad to take the truck on a long drive anyways. I don't know much about it other than the motor is from something else. The battery is dead so I tossed it on the charger and the guy giving it away said it ran good but leaked oil all over the place and I think I already found the issue- the crankcase breather hose wasn't attached to the intake. It was absolutely filthy so I vacuumed some of the grass off it and hosed it down very quickly, but it still needs a more thorough cleaning. It's got some broken pieces and some jury-rigging to undo, but generally it doesn't look all that bad. I haven't even googled it yet, so I know nothing about model, age, engine, transaxle etc, but at the very least it's got 4 good tires and wheels, a MINT seat, and a core for a battery.

Fit perfect in the back of the truck-

Less-than-mint steering wheel- View attachment 116576

Engine is pressure-lubricated and has an oil filter so I guess that's good. Gravity feed fuel tank is lame tho-

sh*t, that steering wheel is legit, send it!!!

Makes me think...Joe, do you know of any steering issues on the Cub?? Mine is trying to lock and not come back on right turns when wheel is full lock. Does. It sporadically on left turns too. I've looked at the mechanism and it looks ok, just thought I'd ask.

The old wheel is yours but I think it might look a little out of place on your Cutlass

Scott, I've actually not had any issues with my Cub Cadet's steering. Even with all the hours that are on it, the steering is still tight, even the replaceable ball joints. But I'd probably say that is the exception and not the rule because most lawn tractors that are even 5 years old have lousy or broken steering.

Well you may have noticed the lathe isn't in the back photos in my shop. My buddy from college/work that I had my lathe at his old house sold his old place so i took the lathe in my shop (and his drill press and giant TIG), and he finally got his new house set up so my lathe is over there. 4 stall+ garage so plenty of room!

Natasha took her truck and the utility trailer to the dump yesterday. It left clean, and came back caked in mud. One good turn deserves another - so I shot the underhood with some Scrubbing Bubbles and foam gunned the outside. While I am sure she appreciates the clean truck, I think she prefers watching me work topless.

Happy wife...

Did you tell her she had to return the favor?
