454 is done with machine work. If I remember right, clean, crackcheck, surface, bore, cam bearings. Guy said the pitting cleaned up with .030. As for the fate of the 454, I really don't know. I haven't had any solid bites on the suburban yet (I wonder why...), and it's too nice of a truck to scrap for $200. As much as I dont want to, and as much as the land dork dont want me too... If it doesnt sell by about mid august im gonna have to put the 454, or something back in the engine hole. That should make it a little more enticing.

Can a sbc bolt to BBC truck perches?
Just scrap the truck and throw the block in the shed to get rusty.

I dumped all my Craftsman sockets all over the place for the last damn time. The latches on my old Craftsman socket set case have been broken off for a couple years and I've dumped it on the floor countless times. Today I had enough and put two small latches from the hardware store on it. This set is from the late 70s, early 80s and still mostly original. I'm a complete sucker for old Craftsman stuff.

I remember there used to a store in the malls that used to sell new empty cases when that happen with the latches. I think it was called Sears or something like that. It's been ages since they were around. Heard that was the place to find the made in USA tools too.

You've got to be making this stuff up... No way anyone could ever just walk into a store and buy a brand new replacement case and made in USA tools, at the same place. That kinda stuff only exists in used condition at flea markets and swap meets where you have to buy the sockets individually and pay like $3 a piece for 'em. And good luck ever finding one of those cases again.

I could swear I remember reading about "another 454 in the shed" (that apparently doesn't exist) in the Most Pathetic Thread Ever Created. Could be old-timer's disease setting in.........
