My dad brought this set home in an unopened box many years ago. He probably did some minor work on a vehicle in trade for it. I have a short video but can't upload it. It works great and the longer I let it run the better it did. Most of the stuff in the pictures is still mostly unused and in the original packaging. Not sure what year it is. Most likely late 70's.View attachment 134494View attachment 134495
After our "not as great of a show" trip to the World of Wheels in Pittsburgh we stopped by may dad's place to get another load of train stuff. Now I'll have more stuff to look over when I get a chance.

Saw some Pinewood Derby Cars above. Some we built here. They were never fast but RULED the design awards. First one was a PWD version of my FIL's old truck

and some others.

I dared to try and pass someone. Car decided it wanted to go offroading. Skidded off the road completely sideways at 35mph. I was about 8 feet from the pole. It's fine, I'm fine. Yanked it out by the rear axle (actually bent it back from smacking a curb two winters ago lol) as it was the ony place on the thing to attatch a chain to. These cars are the most squirrelly, tail happy turds I've ever had the displeasure of driving. Why does a FWD car have a rake. WHY.

That day was a bad one for wrecks. Hovering around freezing the ice would freeze and unfreeze in as little as a few hours. On the street perpendicular to my house, 5 people wrecked, each into a different person's yard. Big hill and ice is a bad time. For clarity, I was coming from the foreground, going into the background, if that makes sense. i basically turned completely around.

I sh*t you not the 5 people that wrecked did it in the span of 1 hour of me leaving for work and going back home. And there is no gunning it with this car. The guy in front of me's car died so I passed him going 35. When I turned the wheel back to the left, I just kept going right. I was heading for the pole and pulled the ebrake and hoped for the best. And the snow was about a week or so old. It's oddly warm here so everything keeps rapidly freezing and unfreezing. It's late January and it's gonna be in the low 30s for the high all week. It's messed up.

I drive a 4 wheel drive Jeep with quadradrive and 4 snow tires and would not pass someone stalled on the road at 35 mph, what would have happened if you lost it and crashed into the stalled car?......I would have passed him/her slowly and stopped to offer help.

I would. Around here, if someone is doing 35 in the snow it's where they should be doing 60. I too am not a fan of FWD in the snow. I spun our Grand Prix once, a slow lazy spin. Ran out of countersteer and in the heat of the moment forgot to give it some gas to keep the fight alive. I stopped in the virgin median though. FWDs kind of have a mind of their own when you get past their limits. At least a RWD goes where you point it. The one time I did try to gas out of an oversteer situation in a FWD I just ended up doing a 4 wheel drift going sideways. I was able to control the trajectory of the car, but its actual path was dictated by inertia. And yes, this was with good tires because it would seriously dig through the snow otherwise.
