We had some of those, 1986 f150 rclb 4x4 I6 4spd growing up. Great engine and can WORK. Not recommended, but, we'd upgraded the shocks/springs both to carry a slide in camper while towing a boat, and, hauled a couple tons worth of stone slabs from a quarry for the walkway. I will say this though - our experience (in new england) was that the brake systems did NOT like sitting for any extended period of time without regular use. At the time we were told by others that was a common issue, but don't have anything to confirm that other then personal experience.
